Lester Allen Humpal
Extension Specialist I, Agricultural and Resource Economics

Les serves as an Extension Specialist providing programming and training in the area of beginning farming, specialty crop budgeting, horse and small ruminant courses, along with webinars on value-added business development, budgeting, and record keeping. Producers attending have increased their knowledge and ability in farm and financial management. Business plans and feasibility studies were also developed for producers to add value to their farms resulting in over $555,000 grant funding.

Jo Anne Waterman
TSU-Extension Agent I, Shelby County

Jo Anne is known for her innovative contributions to small farms and urban garden program and the development of the West Tennessee Farmer’s Academy Program, teaching new and beginning farmers the steps of operating a farm. Her representations of vegetable production and GAP have made the citizens feel at ease when learning and implementing the practical uses of farming.
